equipment operator in owensboro/utica area?
Hi, we are considering a move to the Owensboro, Utica area. Wondering if anyone can give us any information on heavy equipment operator jobs? My husband has 13 years experience operating equipment. We're wondering if there are a lot of jobs in that field and how the pay is. If anyone can give us any information, we would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

I am not certain, but
It would be my initial thought that you will have lots of competition from the men aged 40 and up who once operated the dozers, etc at the now closed coal mines that provided the main source of employment in the 60's, 70's & 80's.

Kelly & Wilmore is a local John Deere Equipment Dealer and utility installation firm. It could be a good resource for knowing if there are any opportunities.

Sage, Owensboro announced yesterday that a barge building company is going to set up shop in and old building there. Going to build barges mostly inside. Said they will be hiring over 100, mainly welders, but seems to me they would need some type of heavy equipment operator too. Tried to look online at the Owensboro newspaper but you have to subscribe to the online version.
