Question Williamsburg & Pleasant View ~ Question regarding Racism

I have a cousin who is thinking of movng to the Williamsburg, Ky Or Pleasant View, Ky Area Or Possably Jellico, Tn.
She is white but has mixed children (Black & White).
And she was told that it was a bad idea for her to move to any of these areas. Because of Racisim And lack of Black People.
The lack of black people isn't a problem she just wants to raise her children in a nice small town with not so much crime. but she dosen't want to expose her children to an extremly racist area ( yes we know there are racists everywhere and iggnornt people also.) She is just trying to avoid any areas were the racisim may be extreme.

We have been researching these areas for months and can't find much information. So any information will be greatly appreciated.

And if you know of a city or town in this same area that may be a better fit that would also be helpfull.

Unfortunatly your going to find idiots where ever you go, but I also have a bi-racial child and live in this area and your right it is a small community and for now I have not had any problems. Time will tell as my child gets older its just a matter of raising them STRONG and know they are loved and to try to ignore ignorance.

Williamsburg isn't too bad. There are parts of Whitley County, north Whitley County in particular, that I would say avoid, but Williamsburg never struck me as too extreme in that matter. Also, you might look at Somerset, London or Middlesboro in the area.

I don't know anything for a fact, but I did visit there once. University of the Cumberlands is where I was and there was plenty of diversity regarding race.

I took this question to my husband who lived most of his life in Williamsburg. He said that it would be fine. There aren't many blacks who live there, with the exception of the college campus. Personally speaking, the town is filled with polite, church-going people who seem friendly to everyone. There isn't much shopping there, except for a Wal-Mart. They have a "mall" but it's mostly empty. I do remember being able to see a movie for $2 when we were dating. That was pretty cool.

I have lived here all my life and we in the pleasant view community treat everyone the same regardless of race or gender we are a quiet church going community and you will find that our area churches are always reaching out in the community and it is a great place to raise kids with good family values! We also have a great school too.
