I wasn't to far from your neck of the woods. I drove right through London. I remember seeing my first glance at the mountains just north of Berea, Kentucky. I had my camera ready for "The Moment" and I was so excited. I took KY25 and it was so beautiful!

BTW - Since moving to L'ville I finally took the I-71 E to Cinci. I was surprised at the landscape in the stretch. It's very scenic.

That was one of the most beautiful highways I've ever driven.
Here are some pictures I took while driving.

25E aka Cumberland Gap Parkway is an incredibly scenic roadway, especially around Pineville. Lots of my dad's side of the family lives down that way - one of my cousins actually helped lay the wall tile in the Gap Tunnel.
Did you go through Tazewell TN - if so, is the road 4 lanes all the way through it yet?

I'm not sure what specific area we're talking. I got on 25 at Corbin and took it to Tennessee 11. I think the area your speaking of is still 2 lanes though. They were doing tons of construction throughout much of the road. I have to admit I'm glad I got off the interstate at Corbin and took the scenic way. I'm so lost in the beauty of the south.

Thanks for the gorgeous pictures! I'm from NJ and now living in Mass and think that Kentucky (and TN) are the most beautiful parts of our country.
About 15 years ago I drove from Lexington to Nashville, leaving about an hour before before dawn. I watched the sun rise along the country roads, and the mist in the hills. I saw beautiful little houses with steep hills rising behind them, enormous sunflowers beside them. The sky was beautiful and the land was green green green.
Your land is incredible! You haven't ruined it, you obviously love and respect it. It's like a dream! Maybe one day I'll take another drive down there. But until then, I'll check in here and look at your pix.
Thank you!
