Interstate highways are intended to link large urban centers. If they happen to come through a rural area and make life better, fine. The philosophy of building one for the sole reason of improving a small, rural economy, falls under the "pork barrel" politics category.

People in W. Kentucky need to build the local economy on their own, and quit expecting big business and the federal government to do it for them.

Western KY has I 24 and I 65. How many more interstates are necessary?? Plus there are all the parkway's in Western KY that are similiar to interstates such as Bluegrass Pkwy, William Natcher Pkwy, Audubon Pkwy, Pennyrile Pkwy, Cumberland Pkwy, etc.

Purchase Parkway, part of I-24, and the Pennyrile Parkway are all going to be part of I-69. Of course we may all die of old age before the Kentucky part is finished!

Thought I-66 was gonna include the old Cumberland Pkwy from Glasgow to Somerset too?? Used to live at Edmonton in Metcalfe Co, somebody built thriving moto-cross track several yrs ago near the pkwy exit if anybody's interested. Doubt any of the excellent local eateries want fast food springing up that the interstate will bring. Fiercely independent non chainstore kinda folks dwell there.
