relocating
My wife and I will be relocating to Kentucky this year. Probably the Burkesville area. I will be retiring from my job here. Would like to get a local truck driving job. I have a CDL but haven't driven a large truck for several years. Any ideas or suggestions on how I would pursue this would be appreciated.

Relocating
Kentucky is the place, and a nice town is Frenchburg. There are several companies for truck driving. It is about 20 minutes from Mount Sterling Ky and 45 min from lexington depending on what part of Frenchburg you move to. We have land for sale if interested 50 acreas of beauitful place with timberland you would have to see it to believe and appreciate it. Good neighbors we have a county judge, and a professor, and a social worker and many more good neighbors around us. The area is idea for people who want to retire. We are going to sell it in Lots or the whole 50 acres. The senery is beauitful. I hope that you find what you want in Kentucky. It is hard to find a safe place anymore. Good luck where ever you go!
Bless you,
jan

To Roooster: I'm not sure about CDL jobs in Frenchburg. US 460 is the main highway going through there, and it's not a very good road. KY 90 heading east from Burkesville to Albany and Somerset is (I would assume) a better road and would be a more ideal place to continue putting that CDL to good use, or you would at least have a better road to drive the truck home on at the end of the work week.
Lastly, Frenchburg is seriously 3.5-4 hours from Burkesville. A pretty good clip, if you ask me!

Dear Roooster,
Did you finally moved to Burkesville area? we are from Illinois also (Elgin area) and looking for a place to retire. How do you like the area? how about taxes, I now some states even tax your retirement income. Can somebody else give us an input about the area?
