No, Morehead and Danvile are two entirely different kinds of towns. Morehead is true Eastern Kentucky mountains. Economically it is a poor area in the state. The area is beautiful, but there's not a lot of jobs there. Housing is cheap, but aside from Morehead State University events, there's not much going on there. It is pretty far away from any others cities. I know a number of folks that went to school there, and the majority say they wouldn't want to live there long term.

Danville is central Kentucky, within 30 minutes of Lexington. There is quite a bit of industry for a small town, so a better job market. I don't live there but it has always seemed to me to be a progressive little town. They take pride in keeping the city looking good and the county and city governments appear to work well together for the betterment of both. Eveyone I know in the area likes it.

I've driven past Morehead and personally would not want to live there because I prefer a larger city. Danville is a beautiful little town about 30- 45 minutes south of Lexington. Centre College is a great small liberal arts school and the town itself is a seemingly small progressive town. I'd recommend Danville over Morehead just because I would think the job market would be better. Harrodsburg is supposed to be nice town also, but I've never been there myself. A good rule of thumb to remember when moving to Kentucky: the closer you are to a larger town/ city (ie Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, metro Cincinnati, etc.), the better the job market is going to be and usually the more affluent the area will be. As mentioned above, Morehead is located in a poor part of the state, beautiful, but poor.

Default Morehead

Morehead is okay I went to college there. The people are friendly and jobs are limited. That is about all I know...

That's a pretty good summary.

I'd also state that Morehead really doesn't have anything to do except go to Wal-Mart and maybe a couple of bars. That is it. I don't know much about the hospitality of the people b/c my experience there is extremely, extremely limited.

Danville is, for Kentucky, reasonably friendly. It is not a bad place to raise a family should that time come. It is probably one of favorite towns in the state.
