We are probably going to be moving to this area from Missouri with in the next few months. We are transfuring to a factrory in Harrodsburg. I can't find any place that shows rentals in that area. I have found some in the newspaper for Danville but I do not know what is a good area or bad area. I will have 3 small children so that is important to me. We can not go over about $675 a month at that and need at least 3bed home. I contacted a realator in Danville and he pretty much laughed at me when I told him our range and said I won't be able to find that in Danville or close and be in a good area. So I am assuming that all the rentals in the newspaper for that range or in crapsville. Anyways any information would be helpfull on letting me know what are good and bad areas. Or places that I can find rentals close to Harrodsburg. We really don't want to go further than 15 miles from Harrodsburg unless we can get a reall good deal on rent.

Danville doesn't have any dangerous areas. There are some relatively dicey public housing units on 2nd Street south of the School for the Deaf, but even they aren't that bad.

There are a lot of nice older neighborhoods with smaller houses just north of downtown that might go for $675.

Check out Lawrenceburg or Salvisa, they are close and fairly cheap to live in. I would also think you could find something in Harrodsburg. That whole area is very safe.

I would advise against Lawrenceburg and Salvisa. I live in Lawrenceburg and, while I won't elaborate unless in private message form, it isn't that great. Salvisa, well, there's NOTHING there. NOTHING.

Since the work will be Harrodsburg, you might as well live there. There is a Super Wal-Mart, Kroger, Cato, Save-A-Lot...basic small town things to meet your needs. Danville is only 10 minutes away and while I'd rather live there, even short drives are becoming less feasible due to increasing gas prices.

Try using Craigslist to look for rentals. I find it better than newspapers ads. Plus they have pictures and you can search by price. Here is the link.

craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums

Thank you everyone. We are going to be in Harrodsburg on May 2nd-4th. We are going to check out Lexington too for entertainment. What other things do you all suggest I look at or see while in the area?
