I hope someone with more knowledge of eastern Kentucky can answer this... how long would it take to drive between the following places?

1) Jackson to Morehead
and
2) Hazard to Prestonsburg

I don't really trust Google Maps' drive times because I know that some of these roads are very mountainous and hilly... Also I don't know what these roads would be like in the winter.

Thanks!

I doubt there is much traffic, so Google maps is probably fairly accurate. I'd say you'd average 55 mph w/ stops

Sorry you didnt get more responses. Im not sure about Jackson to Morehead, but from Hazard to Prestonsburg about 45 minutes, give or take a few. The highway is very hilly, up and down, up and down, kinda like a roller coaster. The state police presence on this road has increased significantly in the past 10 years.

1) Roughly 90-100 minutes, and it would mostly be backroads along the way.
2) Roughly 45-50 minutes, straight shot on KY 80.

Would you be planning to make these commutes on a regular basis, such as living in Jackson and working in Morehead? I personally would not want to drive from Jackson to Morehead every day, especially in bad weather. Hazard to Prestonsburg would at least be manageable, I suppose, if you don't mind spending a lot of money on gas.

Default Travel time

I am going to sort of guess that from Jackson to Morehead it would take at least Two hours depending on the roads, and the same from Hazzard to Prestonburg. I know some of the roads are hilly and time comsuming but if you like the places it is worth the drive. The maps are pretty good with information on driving.
