I have clients in the area. They own a manufactured home business and serve the Barren (Glasgow), Warren (Bowling Green), and other South-Central Kentucky Counties. I would recommend you might speak with them. If you will PM me, I will give you contact detail.

Schools are better in Bowling Green and there is more to do than in Glasgow. Depends how rural you want to be.

I grew up in Glasgow (0-23 years old ), it is a GREAT place to go and raise a family. It's very safe, I can say that we never had to lock our car doors or felt unsafe in the least. The schools there are good and your children will have no problem getting into college if they choose to take AP courses. I was accepted to every school I applied to including Vandy but choose WKU because all my friends went there and many commuted from Glasgow since you could set up all your classes to TUE/THU only. There is also the WKU community college there where you can get some degrees while only having to take a class or two at main campus.

I really miss it, there was a great community feel on the side of town I lived on (eastern valley estates) and the cost of living is very reasonable. I really do enjoy going back there and plan on retiring there when I can.

Bowling Green is a bit larger and is a heavy college town with WKU there, if you are into the bar scene it definitly would be better to live in that area since glasgow has no liquor stores or bars. (A year or so ago they did pass a law to allow certian establishments to serve alcohol, but I was told it was a very limited fashion in select restaraunts). I also had my car broken into twice while living in bowling green, and one of my friends was mugged, so from my personal experience it has some crime issues probably due to the heavy college population.

Another cool thing about Glasgow is that if you are into boating and water recration Barren River lake is a short drive and good sized lake for fishing/skiing etc.

Not to mention it was named the #1 rural place to live !

Sorrry if I rambled but glasgow is a great place.

At town square in Glasgow ye git the feeling its surrounded by small businesses that been ther for generations. Real small town stuff too, like bootmaker and leather smith coupla streets away. One independent restaurant followed 'fast food' formula for success with drive up window - except its HAND COOKED steak sandwiches!! Really excellent. Powerful independent entrepreneur spirit there.

Scotish Games is major Glasgow festival with bag-pipers, log throwing competitions and crazy Scotish sports. Glasgow is located as major hub to Cave City and Horse Cave, Barren Co and Edmonton, Metcalf Co... Among all 4 ye git coupla live theatres with drama productions, moto-cross race track, county fair demolition derby junk car race, indoor/outdoor shooting range, pumpkin festival, farmers markets and roadside stands. High School sports are televised on local tv, nearby Edmonton has one of the best local radio stations I've ever heard at FM 91.9 -

Spent years down there and kinda makes me homesick talkin about it.

I've been to Glasgow before, it's such a nice town. Love the countryside area in Barren County.

Glasgow is a very nice town, but like another poster said, if you want more to do Bowling Green is much larger. Glasgow is probably a lot safer though, but rather rural. Of course it is a short drive to Bowling Green for shopping and more restaurant choices.
