Default Relocation info for Paduca KY??

My husband has been offered a job in Paduca, KY. We would have to relocate from Michigan. I am looking for information concerning a safe quiet neighborhood that would be good to raise our young children in. We are tired of the city life but still want to be close enough to the city for normal everyday conviences.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all.

Welcome to the Bluegrass

Here is a map of the Paducah area based on median household income. The most affluent areas are btw Hinkleville Rd (US 60) and Lone Oak Rd (US 45)

There are quit a few Paducah pics on the Kentucky photo sticky, here is a sample of them

Plenty of quite safe neighborhood in Paducah, better of home can be found on Realtor.com
Most folks live in the surrounding counties or out in the county due to the cities love of taxes and fees. Paducah looks like it's over 100,000 people but the city actually only has about 26,000. As noted most folks live in north Graves, NW Marshall, E, Ballard, or the in the county of McCracken. Depending on your budget and where his job is located (east side, west side, downtown).

I've sent off for the relocation pkt from Paducah, L-ville, & B.G. They all offer good packets.

I have a question also: Is Paducah, when you COUNT the county people, about 100,000 persons? That would be great. It would also explain why their crime index is so high.

T.Y.

The country is about 64,000 if you factor in the "metro" area, S IL, SE MO and the surrounding counties, it's about 250K+.

I heard a report on the news the other day that the crime rate is really down a lot in the past year, mainly do to getting rid of "The Set" which was a area that was known for crime and brought the city and country wide numbers way up. I know a lot of folks in Paducah that feel perfectly safe and leave there home unlocked and keys in the car, what you have a a small area that was distorting the numbers.

Wow it's much bigger than I thought in that area! I'm glad "the Set," whatever it was, is GONE.

Thank you all for the information. It is greatly appreciated. Kentucky will be a lot better for my kids. Considering we are moving from Detroit, MI. Things here are bad and are getting worse.

When you move and get settled. better take a weekend and check out the surrounding area. Head down to the lakes area, the Land Between the Lakes, etc. That's after you see all the tourist sites in Paducah! If you're a big Superman fan, make sure you go to Metropolis, Ill.
On January 21, 1972 DC Comics declared Metropolis "Hometown of Superman". On June 9, 1972 the Illinois State Legislature passed Resolution 572 that declared Metropolis the "Hometown of Superman," the comic book superhero who is based in the fictional city of Metropolis.[2] Among the ways it celebrates the character are a large Superman statue in the city, a small Superman museum, and an annual Superman festival that is in June. Also, it has a local newspaper, known as The Metropolis Planet, a name inspired by the newspaper in fictional Metropolis, The Daily Planet. (Wikipedia)

Metropolis is right across the river in Illinois, home to the Super Man statue
