Default Need help finding electronic tech jobs in kentucky

Anyone know anywhere there are any electronics manufacturers in kentucky? I don't really want to live in the Louisville metro area because I would prefer a smaller town. I would be particuarly interested in the Elizabethtown, owensboro, or any other mid-sized town. Please HELP!

I know that there are a lot of suppliers in the Georgetown area for the Toyota plant there - instrument panels, etc. That might be a place to consider.

A foot note: Because Louisville also serves as one of UPS's major air distribution ports, many technical firms locate near the airport. Electronic components of all kinds are shipped in, often by daylight, repaired and back out before dark, or dark before daylight, etc. Obviously this is an advantage to all kinds of businesses, cell phone, computer owners. It also means lots of techie jobs..

Keep in mind that Louisville, N. KY and Lexington are the best markets in Kentucky for many facets of the technological services industry.

Just to keep it real, you may very well have to work in one of those metropolitan areas. Kentucky doesn't have any "large" or "real" metros. However, for example, even if you worked in Louisville you could feasibly be in the country in 20 minutes. Eastwood, Old Henry Road (NE of I-265), Fisherville, and far SW Jefferson County are all areas technically in Louisville that are rural in feel and that probably won't be inundated with suburban development for at least 15-20 years. Places even in immediately surrounding counties (i.e.: Bullitt, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer) might not develop for another 50-75 years in areas further from Jefferson County as well as these counties' respective seats. Just something to think about.

I personally would look in Northern Kentucky. That area is the future of Kentucky (search through my previous posts) and is our fastest-growing area; the wealth of companies centered around Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, as well as in Cincinnati itself, give you plenty of places to look. Much of the tri-county NKY region--Boone, Kenton and Campbell--as well as outlying counties like Grant, Pendleton and Gallatin are still very rural/"small-townish" and will remain that way for decades to come.
