I just googled it and it's a little over 3 hours from Louisville but I think it would be well worth the drive if you're wanting to do some hiking. There are over 500 miles of hiking and biking trails in the LBL. Your best bet for places to stay would either be Lake Barkley State Resort Park or Kentucky Dam Village SRP. I'd advise Ky. Dam because the bridge crossing Lake Barkley is being replaced and, while still driving on the old bridge, you hold on tight when meeting a tractor trailer or a boat being pulled across.
I don't drink but have some friends who are madly in love with Purple Toad Wines. Purple Toad Winery - Kentucky's Largest and Most Awarded Winery This winery is just south of Paducah, off I-24. If you go across Kentucky Lake and go to Aurora, you can check out the moonshine museum , Silver Trail Distillery. Silver Trail Distillery - Home of LBL Moonshine Back in the days of moonshine and before the TVA forced the residents out of the land between the rivers (LBL now), there were stills all over the area. The owner of this place is using the recipe passed down through his family, but it's legal now. lol
If you don't want to go that far, John James Audubon State Park in Henderson has a couple trails through their nature area.
John James Audubon State Park - Kentucky State Parks It's awesome to stand in the nature center and listen to all the sounds of the birds and other animals while watching them through the glass.
Either place will be a 4 lane drive for you. To get to Henderson just take I-64 to Evansville, then US 41 (soon to be I-69) south to Henderson. There's plenty to do in Henderson and Evansville at night.
Wherever you decide to go, hope you have a fun weekend.
Don't forget Kenlake state park, its in a pretty good location.

I like the South I-75 Tour:

Berea: Boone Tavern restaurant and craft stores, hiking Indian Fort Mtn.
Renfro Valley: Live music
Corbin: Cumberland Falls
Stearns: Big South Fork Scenic Railroad
Somerset: Lake Cumberland

Bardstown by itself isn't worth a small vacation but combine it with Lincoln Birthplace, Mammoth Cave, and Bowling Green's Corvette Museum and Lost River Cave and that's a nice short vacation.

We did that with my sons and wife's granddaughter several years ago. We never went in Mammoth Cave but there's other things to do around there.

Here's the state web site on parks.http://www.kentuckytourism.com/ You may not see the Land Between the Lakes on here because it's a National Recreation Area instead of a state park.
Also, if you're into blues music, the Kenlake Hot August Blues Festival is coming up August 25th and 26th. My parents always looked forward to it. Kenlake Hot August Blues | Kenlake Hot August Blues
