Hello
I just moved to the Scottsville/Franklin area. Does anyone have suggestions where to launch kayaks, preferably in an area where I can kayak for at least 6 to 10miles? Also are there any kayaking groups in the area I can join?
Thanks

The Red River is a nice float. You can put in at the public launch in Adams, TN at the Red River Canoe rental and take out at Port Royal State Park. 7-8 miles

Scottsville is nowhere near Franklin County; did you mean Scott County?

Or did you mean Franklin, Kentucky, close to the TN line and south of Bowling Green? Kentucky has both Scott and Franklin Counties, located fairly close to one another, plus towns named Franklin and Scottsville.

If it's Franklin and Scott Counties, check out Elkhorn Creek and the Kentucky River.

If it's the town of Franklin, the Green River might be worth checking.

No idea about Scottsville.

Scottsville isn't far from Barren River Lake.

But who knows *what* the OP was talking about?

The OP is clearly talking about the town of Franklin, KY and Scottsville, KY (which are in close proximity). I second the recommendation of the Green River as well. The section through Mammoth Cave National Park is nice and have multiple options for put in/take out points.
