Still searching for a job - suggestions?
Here it is December, and since I was down-sized from my position in a Louisville Neuro-surgeon's office in July, my job search has been very bleak.
I certainly am beginning to be more than discouraged, and at this time of year especially, it is more than difficult financially.
I am sending out an s.o.s. to all of you who live in our area - anyone know of a practice or company who is actively recruiting for a 40 year old almost empty nester, dedicated and hard-working, willing to step up to the plate and be a team player - with 11 years experience in medicine and office management?
I have been told everything from too much experience to not enough (college degree), and have become very disheartened at the entire process.
My age group has been hit hard with down-sizing, and it is a tough market evrywhere. What hurts the most - prospective employers see my resume and believe I will not stay if offered a better position, or believe I may someday take their managment position - rather than seeing me as someone who can pinch hit for all positions in the office.
It's coming on Christmas, and I have only one wish - to find a practice willing to give me a chance. I welcome any suggestions you may have.
Thanks ya'll!

I would try temping, if you haven't gone that route yet. I have known several people who got good full-time jobs from doing that and anything is better than having a black hole of time on your resume. Some staffing agencies specialize in medical practices.
Wish you luck!

Thanks so much for the suggestion.
I have been working with an agency in Louisville - but they seem to not be very concerned about placing me. I joined with them in September, have sent numerous requests for my resume to be sent to prospective employers - only to find they have not followed up. In these past 3 months, I have gained 1 interview through these people.
Today is Sunday. In addition to praising God for what I DO have, I am going to begin a new search for agencies - thanks to your suggestion - and pray I can find a position before Christmas.
That would be the best gift ever.
Thanks again, Kimmiey

Have you looked into Corbin or London...two growing towns(or cities)...my "surrogate" sister is a nurse in Corbin. Everyone from Harlan county seems to be getting jobs in those two towns i mentioned!

Here's you a heads-up! My hunny works for the Fed. Gov. There are MANY positions open right now for people with your qualifications! So, go to www.usajobs.opm.gov Search by state, and choose KY-All. That's where almost all gov. agencies hire from. You build your resume there, and even apply for the jobs online, with just a click! Make sure you list ALL your qualifications! Good luck!

Owensboro Mercy Health Systems is hiring. Just announced a new 500 bed 140 acre medical complex and a great need for personnel. Recruiting lots of new doctors. You will love the life-style in Owensboro.
