I think there are two important questions that you'll need to answer to narrow down your choices:
1. What kind of amenities do you want to have near your home? For instance, how far do you want to drive to buy groceries or see a movie?
2. How far are you willing to commute to your job every day?

Wolfe and Morgan Counties are in a very rural area of Kentucky. If I were working there, I would definitely live in Morehead, because I prefer living near at least a few stores and restaurants. Plus, it has easy access to I-64, which allows you to get to Lexington reasonably quickly if, for instance, you want to go to the mall on a Saturday. There are also a lot of outdoor activities in the area, if you like things like camping and boating.

I actually prefer living in a larger town than Morehead, but that's just my personal preference. If gas prices were lower, I might even consider living near Lexington and commuting down the Mountain Parkway if I worked in Wolfe and Morgan Counties. But, with gas at over $3 a gallon and likely to keep getting higher, I think Morehead may be your best bet.

thanks for the info. Any idea how long it would take to drive from Morehead to West Liberty. I've only been through there once, and remember alot of small two lane roads in that area. I am not a huge shopper, but do like to have a walmart or something similar nearby as well as not having to drive over 30 min. to eat or shop.

I'm guessing about 30-40 minutes. It would be two-lane, winding roads all the way. It could be tough in winter, depending on how well the state plows the roads.

About the only other place I can think of is Mt. Sterling. You could drive down 460 to West Liberty, which would probably be a little better road than the Morehead-West Liberty commute, but the drive would take maybe an hour.
