I can't speak to that area, but I do encourage you to check out Hopkinsville-Christian County, KY. We have a state of the art cancer treatment facility at Jennie Stuart Medical center along with many other outstanding facilities and doctors. The health care industry is one of our fastest growing sectors.

We're close to Nashville and Clarksville, TN and Evansville,IN, so you'd be in good proximity to larger communities. We're also a growing community with an increase of 11% through our county since 2000.

Home prices are reasonable and construction in this area has a good reputation. There are lots of parks and recreation opportunities throughout the community and the region with nearby Land Between the Lakes, Pennyrile Forest State Park, Tie Breaker Park Athletics Complex, Jeffers Bend Reserve, etc...

You are welcome to visit Hopkinsville-Christian County Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, Visitor's Bureau for more information. For the purpose of full disclosure, please note that I am from Hopkinsville and work at our Chamber of Commerce. Admittedly biased, but honest in all that was just stated!

Hello, London is currently building a brand new hospital. Construction is just now getting started however but is expected to be complete in 2010. Somerset's hospital was recently expanded. London has a new cancer center and Somerset has one as well. Since London and Somerset are somewhat small, some tend to go to Lexington for their medical care, which is an hour north of London or Somerset. That is simply because Lexington is much larger and has large hospitals such as UK, Central Baptist, Good Samaritan, Jewish and St. Joseph. I have lived here all my life and I feel like we have quite a few good doctors in this area. Any more questions feel free to ask.

Somerset has good medical facilities, and is a ' drawing point' for people from the rural areas surrounding it. The town is quite modern, but is only about 25,000 strong. Don't expect the level of opportunities of, say, Knoxville, but know that it is a decently sized, progressive community, unlike some areas to it's southeast.

Good luck in your move. Once you get settled in the Somerset/London area, hope you'll drive west and visit the Kentucky/Barkley lakes area. Should be a nice overnight or weekend getaway for the two of you.
