Hi, We are originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but got out in '95. Spent 18 months in a little town in Iowa. Loved Iowa, but second winter it was 27 below for a week. We ended up moving to central Ohio for church. Long story, but we bought the house in Iowa before we discovered the church in CA. We attended, moved to Iowa, then moved on to Ohio which we have lived in since '97. We are getting that itch to move again. Our daughter attended Berea College for a year and we visited her a number of times and loved it. Beautiful state, friendly people. Researching more we learned social security is not taxed at state level, which is good as we are retired.

We know there are Amish around there. Are there other churches such as Beachy Amish (car driving)? We were members of a "Plain" church for 15 years and that is the type of church we would want to worship with.

Any suggestions or comments appreciated.

Are you discussing Mennonites? There are quite a few of those in Kentucky. I know Hart County has what is considered a large population of both Amish and Mennonites.

These are the three Mennonite Churches near my county

Breckinridge Mennonite Church
Payneville, KY

Cedar Springs Amish Mennonite Church
Clarkson, KY

Summersville Mennonite Church
Greensburg, KY

Here's a Beachy Amish website that lists where their KY churches are located - BeachyAM.org--Kentucky churches. Not sure how up to date it is, but there's an online form you can use to inquire about churches in your geographic area of interest.

I just saw your reply. I did get hold of them, and explain the situation and they gave me about 6 Plain churches nearby. So have that info now. Thanks!
