Watching Eight Belles break down has left me bummed out for some reason tonight. I guess it's because i was pulling for the only girl in the field. Plus I was holding my 2 year old daughter when she pulled up after finishing. When I saw her laying on the track, I had a feeling that it was very serious. Just some bad injuries related to the Triple Crown lately...Barbaro going down in the 06 Preakness and Eight Belles at the Derby.

That was a very sad derby for me, Eight Belles ran her heart out in that race and beat 18 of the boys to the wire. She was a nice big filly and I think she had a good future ahead of her, it's really sad when things like that happen.
