I am going to rest. Then go on a leisurely walk, and visit historic places. After that i will have dinner somewhere downtown Louisville. Remember our fallen hero's, current hero's fighting in Iraq, and rememeber your neighbors. What happened to the times, where neighbors gathered together for barbeques or block parties. Kentukiana's remember not to drink and drive, help someone in need, voice your opinion, take pride in your community, welcome outsiders, and help build this state one person at a time. Stop your whining and complaining. Donot just attend church, but make a real difference in your community. Remember bickering and fighting solves nothing amongst friends or relatives. Everyone have a great day, and a safe holiday!!!

All the family is coming to my house for vittles. We're having pork bbq, smoked sausages, hamburgers, corn on the cob, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, strawberry shortcake and chocolate chip cookies.

It's always a great time for the whole family to get together and get caught up on each other's lives. We have a great time!

Ok - I have a question. For most of my life, the "official" purpose of Memorial Day was to honor fallen soldiers, and our communities often had little memorials, parades, etc. Now, though, living in KY I've met lots of people who use Memorial Day as a time to remember all loved ones that have passed away...and I've seen lots of roadside stands selling memorial flowers for moms, sisters, etc.

My husband's family (who live in Louisville) said that they have always celebrated Memorial Day by traveling to where their family members are buried.

So, is this a KY thing? A southern thing? Or just a less specific regional thing that I just haven't noticed before?
