Also, the fact that Richmond isn't that walkable is a bit disappointing. I was hoping to move to a place that I can walk everywhere! Looking online a homes for sale, it seems like the only houses you can buy are overpriced mobile homes. Is this because lots of people are moving into Richmond? Also, I am wondering if any areas flood? I have seen some pictures on Shady Oaks Dr. of some pretty severe flooding, which worries me.

Downtown does kind of suck. As far as house go I guess it depends on your price range. There are some smaller ones, not moblie homes, that arent crazy expensive.

I'd have to agree with the earlier post, stay away from the streets around Main Street going opposite of EKU. I've had friends live in the area and there is a considerable amount of drugs, although it is mostly pot and some cocaine. Plus that area gets a little "rowdy" when school is in at EKU. Other than that I don't know of any "bad neighborhoods" and don't know anything about flooding?? Factories... there is a glass factory somewhere in town, not sure where. There is another one on High Street, close to downtown, but they are off the mainroad at the old bowling alley. Lately alot of shops have closed, especially at the existing mall and across the bypass from it but things are finally picking up as they bring in Kohls on one side of town, put in a Hobby Lobby and office store in abandoned buildings and are constructing a huge shopping center (Richmond Centre).
