Is there a portion of KY that is great for growing vegetables and fruit? I read long ago that KY soil is very fertile, but I don't know which area would be good for vegetable gardens and fruit trees.
Well I live in the Jackson Purchase and the soil is so fertile here it's dangerous for a ovulating women to walk across it.
Seriously we have really good Mississippi flood plain soil, very deep sandy loam.
I'm jealous hun! You outta try to dig into the stuff around here that hasn't been worked before, especially when it hasn't rained awhile. It is a good workout!
The soil around Lexington is quite fertile. My mom's friend has a massive garden in both his front and back yards and my mom has a large rose garden in the front. I can only comment for the bluegrass region, but I'm sure the rest of the state is very fertile as well.
I understand the clay soil has alot of nutrients, you just have to be strong to work it and watch that your plants dont get water logged.
