For anyone who owns a vehicle. Rates vary depending on model, make and year, and whether you are a dealer or private citizen. It's really not that bad. Promise. Remember - the sales tax is only6%. I believe it all equals out in the long run. |

Hi Catlily71:
I agree with Kimmie....the air quality was great, even though it was cold when we were there. Berea Hospital was purchased recently by St. Joseph's & is now called St. Joseph Berea Hospital. From all the info I garnered, it is a small hospital, but a good one. Other hospitals are nearby in other localities, so you should not have any problems there. I've done so much research on the area, I almost feel like I'm a Kentuckian already. My better half - Donna - & I are in love with the area, & can't wait to move there from here in Central Florida...the Suncoast. Joe |

Kimmie and Suncoastman, thank-you, for all the input!
My family and I have one thing left to do...get in the car, drive down, and explore the area. ![]() |

Kimmie:
Is SAND GAP in Jackson County a decent place to live? I found a place there for Donna's cousin ( who got the bug from us) & wants to follow us to Kentucky. Any input would be appreciated....Thanx kiddo. Anybody else that wants to chime in with info...would be nice too. Joe |

Hi Joe! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you-life's a little crazy right now. Sand Gap is in Jackson, just about 20 miles from Berea. Nice little area if you want complete privacy. There's really not much there. Mostly some real steep farmland, a few houses, and a few country stores. If I were moving to Jackson, I'd head on towards McKee. Very small town, one stoplight(!), but at least it has a Dairy Queen. Once you move here you'll find out that EVERYONE loves the D.Q. breakfasts! :-)
Tell Donna I said congrats on finding a place! Richmond is a really great town-I know as I was "raised up" there. Welcome to Ky and bring some of that nice Florida weather with ya! ~joanna~ |

I am so glad you are soon on your way. Catlily - waht are you waiting for? Come on down - we are ready to welcome you with open arms! (oh, just wait til March - lots of cold, snow and ice right now. I want you to have fun without sliding around on the roads!) Kimmiey |

This deduction is for citizens. You can use the deduction if you itemize, which if you have a mortgage ya sure want to do! I've used this deductions for about 3 years now, and do my taxes thru Dillon's Tax Service in Richmond. I'm not sure about the business deduction, as we haven't owned a business in about 5 years. However, when we did, I remember deducting mileage and vehicle repairs. Are you from the area? If so, try Dillon's. I've been with them for like 10 years now, and am really happy with the service/price. Plus, the workers are all Christian! Last time I used H&R Block, I caught 2 mistakes the guy who filled out our taxes made! When I pointed them out, he got really rude. Went to his supervisor, who agreed with me on the taxes, but didn't even apologize for the crappy treatment. It would have been enough to get us audited, too! ~joanna~

I'm ready to move now, but we are going to wait until around June. As we speak, it is sleeting and snowing like crazy, so I know the feeling. I'm looking forward to the rolling green hills. Hopefully we will be visiting in April to look at areas, homes and more. We can't wait to see 'you'.

Well, can you believe it....Berea has been warmer the last 2 weekly morning hours than Brooksville, FL. ?????
I had 21 degrees 2 mornings ago...with frost, & 31 this AM. I believe both days it was in the 50's in Berea. The only difference is the fact it's usually sunny here in FL even when its cooler. And I actually got a sunburn yesterday & today !! Go figure. We are heading back up to Kentucky to look at more homes....wish us luck. Joe |

Good luck Joe and keep us posted. Can I say how lucky you are just to be able to go now and 'visit'.
