Default Thoughts on Burgin/Harrodsburg Area

My wife and I may be moving to the Burgin/Harrodsburg area in the next year or so. We've only visited the area briefly once and thought it nice enough. Can anyone enlighten us further on lifestyle, employment, retirement possibilities in the area, and anything else you'd like to tell us about? Thanks.

Lifestyle: Country. Need I say more? Many of the area's residents regularly go hunting, fishing, frog gigging, four-wheeling, and other sorts of Southern country activities. If you're from the Rockies or someplace and like to hike big mountains or ride horses, VERY few people are into that kind of thing here. Odd, considering Kentucky is the horse capital of the world. It's also a pretty laid-back place; very people honk their horns in traffic (what exists,) and people walk, think, talk, or otherwise operate VERY slow.

Employment: Like factory work? Retail? That's about all that exists. If you want more of a white-collar job that pays more than Wal-Mart, I'd suggest moving to Lexington or Louisville.

Retirement: I'm 22, can't help you there. Sorry.

Mercer Co. is beautiful and if there's anyplace in the state I'd choose as a favorite by virtue of its natural beauty, I'd probably tie Mercer with Owen, Jessamine, and Oldham Counties. It's a very picturesque place.

Sleepy little Kentucky town in the middle of nowhere. Lexington, while not the excitement capital of the world has a lot more to offer.
