Default So tell me about the Paducah area.

My wife is originally from Reidland Ky. and wants to move back when we retire in four years. I have visited many times and while it appears ok, I have not spent any length of time in the area. To give an insight as to my attitudes, we live in the Atlanta, Ga. area and HATE it here. Thanks!

PLEASE TAKE ME WITH YOU!

LOL

I too live in the Atlanta area. I grew up near Reidland though and it's such a different life. If you are ready to get away from Atlanta and the hours and hours of traffic you sit in each week as well as no real sense of closeness in the community, then you are ready for Reidland.

It might be a bit of culture shock at first, expecially getting used to the accent (although Atlanta has so many). I even find myself chuckling sometimes because I feel like I've stepped into a movie or something when I go back for visits.

Have you seen Sweet Home Alabama (the movie)? That's exactly what it's like for me when I go back up there. You see how crazy it is for her in New York and then how different it is when she goes home. That is so true for me when I get out of Atlanta and go home for a visit. (the countryness of it that is)

However Reidland is close enought to civility that you won't have to go through the shock of finding out what it's like for the nearest mall and movie theater being an hour away.

That part of Kentucky is an amazing escape from Atlanta.
