To vacation near Cumberland Falls?
Help! We wanted to vacation at the lodge in Cumberland State Park but we are too late to make reservations. To see the Moonbow in June is one of our goals, so we still want to stay somewhere close. Does any one have any ideas about where we can stay somewhere around the falls?
We love Kentucky and would love to retire there.
Much thanks!

Corbin and London are both located close to the falls. There are several motels/hotels/bb's. Somerset is also on the way to the falls. The beauty of Lake Cumberland cannot be matched! If you stay on HWY 27 from Somerset, approximately one mile past the cut-off for Cumberland Falls is a sign on the left that says "Overlook". This is the Natural Arch area, which is amazing! It is a gentle appox. 1/4 mile walk to the arch. Native Americans held ceremonies under the arch, and considered the area sacred. I can see why!! There are several marked trails for hiking, making you feel that you have gone back in time. Bring plenty of cameras/film! ~joanna~

Hwy 27 - will they be in town for that huge yardsale? Am I on the right highway? Or is it 127? I have always wanted to do that, heard so much about it!! And, I am sorry to say I have not been to lake Cumberland. I am so ashamed...
Your info helped me! KimmieyKY

Cumberland Falls
The State Park Resort there is one our favorite places to stay. We never had a bad stay there and we have been going for 5 yrs. now. It was so nice we decided to MOVE to KY. We have our eye on a house in Somerset. Just love that whole London, Corbin, Somerset area.

Just in case anyone has this problem. There are several really nice motels up the road from the Falls in Corbin at I-75 Exit 25 (Falls Rd), the DuPont Lodge that is next to Cumberland Falls is often full! So an early reservation is a very good idea if you want to stay at the DuPont Lodge.

While you are out that way make sure you see Yahoo Falls in Daniel Boone forest and take the Old South Fork Railroad ride, very nice!

We're going to be in a cabin at Cumberland Falls next week. How far away is the Old South Fork Railroad ride? My son would LOVE this!

I would plan on a 30-45 minute drive to get to the Old South Fork. It's actually not that far, but the road is so curvy that it adds to the drive. If you follow 92 to US 27 you should be alright. There are several shortcuts, but you have to plan them out ahead of time.
