From Forbe's Mag, America's most profitable b-ball teams School, net profit 1. U of L $17.1 million 2. UNC $16.9 million 3. UK $15.4 million - #4 is Arizona $13.2 million 5. Duke $11.1 million U of L & UK both had nearly 2X National Champion Kansas's profit ($8 mil) -------------------- KY = $32.5 million NC = $28 million ------------ KY = the real Tobacco Road In Pictures: The Most Valuable College Basketball Teams - Forbes.com |

This isn't a surprise to me. In Kentucky basketball is king.

You forgot to mention NC State which came in at 7.9 million. It's hard to leave out a school that is 20 miles from UNC and Duke. That puts NC at 35.9 million if you are still keeping count. I could throw in Wake Forest University which is right down the road but I think I've made my point.
Don't get me wrong. I'm sure that in general, Kentucky folk are more passionate about basketball than North Carolinians. The only other sporting event going on is the Kentucky Derby. That happens once a year and lasts all of 5 minutes. |
