Valley Station and even PRP may still be a good fit for you. There are still areas with acreage in them. You may want to spend some time down here and look around before you decide on anything.

You will likely have to drive into Jefferson County.

You know, if you live on the outskirts of the county, you will be near shopping/work, and still be close to the country. And at the same time, it won't have that "urban" feel that you dislike.

I would recommend southern Jefferson county, but if your dead set on Shelbyville then go for it, but it will likely be difficult finding a job near your apt.

PRP (Pleasure Ridge Park) is a small suburb of Louisville within Jefferson County. Yes, it is quite far from Shelbyville. But on the flipside, it is very affordable.

I stand by my recommendation of south/southeast Jefferson county. Okolona maybe?

I am not sure what a community home is but yes, PRP is a bit far from Shelbyville. Perhaps you could live in Shelbyville and work at one of the retail places or restaurants but I doubt they will hire you from out of town. As far as apartments you can get a one bedroom easily for 3-400 in PRP or Valley station. Good luck.

What kind of jobs have you had before or what kind of skills do you have? That might narrow it down too.

Well you could probably find a job easily in Shelbyville if you don't mind working in Fast Food.
