Single in Louisville, or Lexington?
I have pretty much decided I will move to Louisville area, or in the area of it. But was curious after reading these articles in this forum about Lexington and the area.
Looking from a singles perspective? Which area would suit me better? Louisville or Lexington.
This is what I am looking for:
A place I can stay until retirement, which won't be long now as fast as time goes.
Privately owned shops, like bookstores/coffeeshops/bakeries
Walkable/Bikeable
Important to have Public Spaces, and Parks
Water would be a plus, but not a have too........Just like being around it!
Oh, and the history/architecture of Louisville is AWESOME, so I am wondering if Lexington has the same!.........I am very into historical housing!

Louisville is 3 times the size of Lex, both in city and metro population. It has substantially more of everything than Lexington--be it historic neighborhoods, shopping, nightlife, etc. Lexington does have a couple nice historic neighborhoods around downtown and just south of it, but there aren't too many options there for that scene. Lexington probably has a better single scene for the 18-22 crowd bc UK is such a big college. Other than that, the single scene in Louisville is substatially better for every single age group. There are very few bars or events in Lexington for anyone over 25. Almost anywhere you go in Lex, you will bump into young college students. If you are that age, its great. If not, its miserable. Louisville has several college but is more than just a college town. It has more opportunites for culture, museums, restuarants, art galleries, parks, and historic urban neighborhoods. Louisville has a much larger downtown, as well as many more historic urban neighborhoods. Just ask if you have anymore questions, but it may help to read about some of Louisville's historic neighborhoods on wikipedia.com. Wikitravel.com also gives a nice summary on Louisville. Check out the Highlands, Clifton, Old Louisville, and Crescent Hill for starters.

I live in Lexington and it is definitely NOT for singles over +-25.
I can only speak from experience... I have not lived in Louisville, so I cannot say if it is better, or the same.
