Default Looking for Morehead, KY info / gun permit too

Anyone live in the area, or have lived there? We're looking at a little bitty cabin on a small piece of land up there. For now just for hubby to use when the stress of living with 7 kids is too much. But once the two girls graduate high school and the kids have moved out, he and I would be living there part of the year.

My concerns - he has serious medical problems, so he'd need to have fairly quick access to doctors and hospitals and pharmacies. Proximity to grocery stores and basic shopping - just a Wal Mart works fine for us. A good vet? We love the dogs and they need a good doc too.

That's really all we're concerned about I guess. We don't like theatre or foo-foo shopping at malls or anything. We like to go out to eat occasionally, though once the kids have moved out it won't be as big a thing I guess.

Oh - big deal - gun permits?? How hard is it to get a concealed carry permit? TN is a nightmare and we've been going through months of red tape to get ours. They don't acknowledge the FDLE letter from my husband's former place of employment because it doesn't say it's specifically from POST. Um, Florida doesn't have a POST agency because it's called FDLE. Anyway, it's just been a nightmare. They said even with my husband's law enforcement certification still being active and valid they aren't sure if they'll accept that and he may have to go take the hand gun permit class. He could teach that thing. I'm way expired so I'm stuck taking it. Whatever. I just don't want to have to go through this mess again. Even with the months of red tape we've dealt with, they said we're still looking at 4 to 6 months of paperwork. Stupid state. So, the permit thing is a consideration.

Kenytucky is a shall issue state and has some of best gun laws in the U.S. You just need to pass a background check and pay the application fee.

Go here to see reciprocity and state gun laws.
