moving to marion kentucky
Hi,
I live in Bridgeport Connecticut which is about an hour away from New York city, This past summer I met a guy who lives in Marion. I am considering moving there and was just wondering what it's like. How are the people? Are they friendly. I've heard they are and i've heard they aren't. coming down to visit in a month or two. Would appreciate any comments anybody has.

Hi Sammi ! Check out the following website for some info. I hope it will help. Actually, it supplied me with more info than I was aware of - I think I will have to visit again myself!
Good Luck!

Sammi647,
Hi! We have never spoken before, but I thought I would introduce myself and tell you that most all of the people in Marion, KY are super nice. It's a wonderful place to live. I moved here when I was in middle school, from not too far away from here, but it was a larger town, the difference is night and day. You walk down the street people wave, speak. It's a community and it's a home, and it's safe. All towns have their problems, but we have been very lucky so far. If you do choose to move here, I think you will be very happy, it's a wonderful place! By the way did you ever come visit? I know your post was in January...but I just stumbled across this website.

Marion, KY.... wow.. Do you want me to put it in its best light, or worst? Crittenden County KY has one major town (note: town, not city) It sits on US Hwy 60 which runs from one end of Kentucky to the other. It has little industry, many farms, nothing touristy, but gee its got a bunch of good people. If you go 30-45 minutes west, you'll find one of the absolute best national parks. The Land between the Lakes NP offers all the wet resources of two great lakes. Lots of summer fun, year round fishing and hunting, and commercialism. Go 45 minutes to the east and you'll find Henderson, KY plus another 15 minutes to Evansville. Good shopping, nothing great, but good. On the big times, you can jump on I-24 and head to either Nashville (Music City USA) or up to St. Louis. So, if you can handle lots of peace and a few great outings, Marion is fine.

Halfway between Paducah and Evansville on the long and winding road known as US60. It's going to take at least an hour to get anywhere.
"Jump on I-24" is an exageration at best.

Not to argue, but are you speaking from experience as I remember, or from a map?

I-24 is half an hour from Marion (if you go by way of Fredonia - Eddyville), or an hour (if you go to Paducah by the old road and get on I-24 there).
There isn't a lot of work in Marion.
