I am currently a teacher of Students with Autism in Lawrence County KY. Today was the 6th annual Autism Walk in Ritter Park which is located in Huntington, WV. I wanted to let you know that in order to recieve any of the services offered through the Autism Training Center at Marshall you must live in WV, no exceptions. There is a small town just over the bridge from KY. It is called Ceredo Kenova. I can not comment on their school programs due to lack of knowledge. Also Louisville is a little pricey when it comes to cost of living but not too bad. BY the way Lawrence County is about 20 miles south of Ashland. Good luck on the move.

Hi welcome to Kentucky! My husband is a HUGE Steelers fan having grown up in the great state of Pennsylvania. We have lived in Louisville for 10 years, the last 2 years in Spencer County. Housing costs a lot less here and you can afford more land. I recomend going to the UofL Autism site. Give them a call and they'll answer your questions! Our son has aspergers syndrome and has done very well at Whitefield Academy in Louisville, ( a private christian school ) Hope all works out for you!

Quote:
Western Ky. University in Bowling Green has a program that is excellent for autism. This would be a program in addition to the school's programs. It helps the family learn more in dealing with the condition as well as the child. Also, Lifeskills offers various programs for chidlren with autism. It is also in Bowling Green. |

I moved from the Northeast to KY in 1997. A major change in cost of living. Louisville has a great Autism center at the University. This group actually travels and teachs all over the state.
My son is high-functional autistic and we now live in the part of KY towards Cincinnati. Louisville was so much better for services and cheaper. Though, Louisville has grown and gotten a little bit more pricey (the surrounding counties of Louisville should be perfect for what you are looking for). Good luck, KM |
