I was reading about that last week. That's gonna hurt here in town! Glad Benson found a buyer. That's another factory that built out near the interstate. They make the trailer part of a tractor trailer. Announced they were closing in August unless they found a buyer. Transcraft bought them out.
Cadiz Record

I read about Johnson Controls last week in the Paducah Sun. Here's this week's Cadiz Record story on it.

Same thing is happening in Morganfield. Rayloc, they rebuild automotive parts for NAPA is shutting down soon. Almost 500 out of work! There's a new coal mine opening in Union County. Going to hire 600 miners by 2010. 750 have already applied. Coal mine job fair set for Wednesday in Sturgis, Ky. : Local News : Evansville Courier Press

From what I hear Johnson Controls is closing 16 plants total, about 5000 jobs will be lost. They have several plants here in TN but don't know yet if any here will be closing, wouldn't surprise me if they do though.

Tn has lost several big companies in the last few years, 3 were here where I live in the past 5 years. Been lots of home foreclosures and people struggling to make a living. It gets tough when a business closes down and puts that many people out of jobs.

The coal mines will be a big help in getting a lot of people back to work, hopefully all these people can hang on and get another job and not lose everything they worked for.
