I totally agree. Id choose Louisville or its suburbs hand down. In fact, you sound like a perfect match for Oldham County, which has arguably the best school system in the state (NE suburb of Louisville). Tomocox is our forum expert on that area, so feel free to contact him.

kygman,

When we come up we will definitely check out Western Kentucky! We're trying to plan a vacation that would alot enough time for us to check out most of the state.
Southern Indiana is a suburb of Louisville, and I think you will find in general the suburbs of Louisville and Lexington much more to your liking than the rest of the state.

Louisville has humana, pharmerica, yum brands, ups air, hilliard lyons, papa johns, texas roadhouse, kindred healthcare, hillerich & bradsby, brown-forman, etc.

Lexington has lexmark...and what else?
bingo.

But I don't think the drop off will be that big in the above two cities. Correct me if I'm wrong though. As for politics we do lean conservative but we don't feel that we have to live in an uber republican area in order to be happy.

As for the New Madrid Fault, it has my Wife spooked a bit, but not so much that it would keep us from moving to a really great place should we find one. Question: how does Louisville compare to Lexington in terms of potential danger due to the fault?

Is it easier to get Louisville Cardinals tickets than it is to get them for the Kentucky Wilcats (football primarily)?

Between Louisville & Lexington, which would you recommend?

gain, I thank you all!
The dropoff between Tampa and Lexington will be HUGE. Lexington is a metro area of 450k, wheres Louisville is 1.3 million and Tampa is 2.7 million.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_o...tistical_Areas

As noted Lexington doesnt even have a zoo. No amusement park for your kids. Not nearly as many museums. Lexington is a beautiful city but more like an overgrown college town. EVERYTHING almost quite literally revolves around UK. If you wore a Florida Gator Tshirt out there you would get chastized almost anywhere you went.

Louisville will be more comprable to Tampa, but much cleaner and safer. Still, Tampa is substantially larger and more culturally diverse than Louisville. That said, I prefer Louisville's midwest grit, and it is a much more accessible and cheaper city. Its urban neighborhoods are also much more attractive IMO. Although the city itself is very liberal, the outlying suburbs like Oldham County are very conservative, and I think you will enjoy that.

Default Get real

Most of KY is poor to the max. Soon the poor come to the slums in larger citys and lower all property values. Ever been to Atlanta ???

Also the KY income tax is Rob and Hood. Why should my good income support dirt bags that pay nothing. Thats a scam.

You got your facts wrong "factman." And you're speaking in a very rude way toward KY, which is not appreciated.

InLondon, although I do not like this new poster's choice of words, people ARE entitled to an educated opinion on this forum. Not everyone likes KY as much as we do...

What he stated was not an "educated" opinion. I am finished discussing it.
