After another horrible beginning to archery season my husband woke up a few Sundays ago and started researching a move to Kentucky. It didn't take much convincing to get me on board.

We want nature, a change of seasons, a little snow, friendly people, safe neighborhoods, hills, good hunting and fishing and a slow, quiet lifestyle.
We were impressed with the amount of industry in Lebanon and that it is centrally located and a short drive to a large city.

Have we made a good choice? Any readers here familiar with the area? We'd be renting for a couple years and then would like to buy a home with land. We're easy-going, keep mostly to ourselves and would make good neighbors.

To answer the questions on the newbie post...

-Where you are working---most likely Lebanon, my husband does shipping/receiving, forklift, manufacturing type work.
-How much you are willing to spend on housing-$1500 month rent, $200K to buy
-How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate-up to an hour
-If you have kids: Private school or public school?-public
-What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town
-Community amenities important to you-parks, hunting areas
-Pie or cake? key lime pie

Is Lebanon DEFINATLY where y'all will be working? Campbellsville has a large Amazon.com warehouse that would have tons of shipping/ recieving jobs. Louisville is also the world hub for UPS, which employs 20,000 people - it would be a 15 minute commute from Bullitt County and 30 minute commute from Meade or Nelson Counties

Nothing is written in stone. Lebanon just happens to be the spot that I've researched the most. It sounds like what we want and the town has put a lot of effort into providing us with info regarding jobs, schools, homes, neighborhoods, etc.
I'll look at those 3 counties. Is there any reason that we should NOT look at the Lebanon area?

Lebanon is a nice small town, and if you had a job in Campbellsville at Amazon the commute is not bad at all. That entire area is nice (Cambellsville, Springfield, Hodgenville, Bardstown) if you are looking for a rural environment, although the Bardstown area is becoming somewhat of an outlying suburb of Louisville. You might also want to look at the Elizabethtown-Vine Grove-Hardin County area. It is a bit larger than Lebanon with more job opportunities, but you can still find some land out in the country if that is what you are looking for. Good Luck.

Default Thanks for the responses-hard to find a rental house!

We're having trouble finding somewhere to live in the Lebanon area. We need a 3, preferably 4 BR/2 BA house. A little land would be a bonus, pets allowed, 1500 sq ft, min. We found NOTHING.
:sigh:

Default Still looking to move?

We moved here from Daytona area of Florida 3 years ago. It is really nice here, the change of pace is refreshing. If you like the hustle and bustle of city life, this is not the place for you. If you like small town charm with lots of the great outdoors then you'll love it here!

We have a house for sale in Lebanon, it is with the May and Parman agency. Have a look, it is on Golf View.

Good luck to you!!! Let me know if you did move!
