I voted Cincy as I like the urban form of the city, the dense neighborhoods, industrial grit in the Mill Creek Valley, hills and overlooks, and neat vernacular architecture. And it has a great downtown. The place also has Findlay Market and has retained a bit more of its German culture. Also has some excellent used bookstores and Joseph-Beth (which Lex has too). Cincy suburbs are more interesting than Louisville ones, and its part of a larger urban region, so there's just "more". Great public radio, too.

Sorry to Cinci people but definately not it. Louisville because I know where the best places for somewhere like me to live and Lexington because it is just so darn pretty!

For me Louisville is the most Kentucky of Kentucky's cities because it hasn't had as many out of state transplants and has retained more of its own culture created by generations of Western/ South Central KY immigrants. Whereas Lexington - sometimes I feel like I'm already in Ohio or Pennsylvannia . Lex is also much more materialistic and class/ race sensitive than the rest of the state IMO
I haven't really noticed a difference in the people from Lexingto to L'ville but that's just me.

Yeah, not saying No KY people are unfriendly by any means but saying I just prefer the feel of KY. I have known some No KY people and they don't seem to like to be associated with KY or consider themselves to be Kentuckians not that I take offense to it.

Louisville has the best urban restaurant/ shopping corridors (Bardstown Rd, Frankfort Ave), best park system, and has more of small town feel than Cinci or LEX IMO (few traffic problems, historic areas don't feel as super urban as Cinci). Also has one of the least educated populations of any US metro area, major economic divisions btw sides of town, and has more parking lots downtown than a Wal Mart.

IMO, I'd rather go to school in Louisville and live in Cincy or Lex after graduating

Depends on how you define "best" economy - by low unemployment then yes it probably does have the best. If you have a degree and want a white collar job I think a bigger metropolis increases the probability of obtaining such a position.

Lexington doesn't have as many large companies based there, it's smaller + the UK graduating population makes any white collar job opening for college grads very competitive.

Lexington, to me, is a really good place to raise a family and is a really good place for people wanting to start businesses or for people who are self-employed professionals (doctors, etc.).

I haved lived in both cities (Lex 9 years, Lou 5 years) and rural KY (Casey County 5 years) and I have always noticed that Louisville people seem to be less concerned about class appearances (nice cars & clothes, living in a snooty neighborhood) than Lexington people are. I also think Lexington people wouldn't tolerate 1/4 of their city being a war zone, which seems to not bother people in Lou.

I moved to Lexington from Casey County and the difference was huge: in Lex it was all about what name brand your clothes were or how big your house was. Admitting to shopping at a discount store or buying your clothes on sale could get you shunned or even beaten. In CC someone who wore fancy clothes would have gotten beat up for being too preppy.

Census I do believe it depends on what part of Louisville you live in too.

Absolutly. I worked at a retail establishment in Middletown and lived in Lyndon and the teenagers were NOTHING like the ones I've been around with at work and school in South Lexington.

Obviously, everyone in Lexington is a Mercedes driving snob & everyone in Louisville isn't down to earth, there are good and bad people in each. I do think East Louisville still has a blue collar vibe that you don't feel at all in South Lexington
