Apartments for a WKU Student
I'm transferring to Bowling Green from Nebraska in December and I'm really stressed about finding the right apartment! I regret the decision I made to live where I do now because I am the only one under 30 living in my apartment complex. I intend to live in a 1bed/1bath place for the first 6 months or so. I would like to live in a community of college students, but I did not find Campus Pointe, College Suites, or Western Place to be quite what I was looking for (I have a decent amount of furniture and those are already furnished). Everyone I talked to recommended to NOT live there. BUT I am considering moving in with 3 girls (that I don't know!) in College Suites just to meet people, but then again I don't want to be stuck living with anyone like I've had as a roommate in the past.
If I don't live there I'm not sure where to live. Like I said, I'd prefer to live in a complex that has a lot of other college students. Price isn't so much a factor as is location and community. Of course I would like to keep it on the cheaper side, I don't want to live in a hole either. My rent now is $590 a month, just as a figure to go by. There isn't much competition here, so this is the only place with (working) utilities and a lower crime rate; thus the higher price.
I do not have pets but I do want to get a cat if I can! That is not a major concern though, I can do without!
I was there last week and only had time to look at Chandler Park and College Suites. I drove through Covington Oaks and it was very nice and a great location (my friend lives on Roselawn) but the lady I called said it was more a community for families and young professionals with few college students if any. She recommended Jackson's Landing (behind Shoney's). Anyone know much about this? I checked into all of Chandler Property Managements places but without being there it's hard to tell.
Any recommendations on apartments (to avoid or check into) would be GREATLY appreciated!

Although I don't have a specific recommendation, I would suggest that you look for something that is walking distance to campus rather than going out as far as Shoney's (Scottsville Road area.) As on most campuses, parking is limited. Did you look at The Gables on Creason or The Registry? They probably have websites where you could get more information. They are student housing but are closer to campus than the ones you mentioned.

College Suites also has a shuttle to and from Campus and it is gated which makes it a little safer. If you get placed with roommates that you can't live with they will let you move to another unit if a room is available and the roommates already in it are agreeable. They really try to accommodate you.

I agree, College Suites is a nice place to live. My friend lives there, and I've spent quite a bit of time there. The apartments are clean, it's a pretty peaceful place, plus the fact that it's gated and that there's a shuttle adds to it. I think there's also a pool, a basketball court, and maybe some other stuff. Not to mention you're right there on Campbell Lane where you're not too far from anything in Bowling Green. I'd definitely be living there if I had chosen to go to WKU.
Good luck!

Thanks for your help :] I think I'm going to be taking over a girl's lease at College Suites. This way if I end up not liking it, I'm not tied down for a year. I'm just worried about how well the girls already living there and I will get along! I've had some pretty awful roommates. Anyway, thanks again!
