Isn't there a law that says if you live in Kentucky you MUST own a gun ... and shoot anyone that tries to take it away from you? Far be it from me to break the law.

I certainly hope not! But then I've seen some pretty stupid laws passed in several states.

Here's why you need to be armed. Intruder killed in Arlington break-in is identified | Arlington | Star-Telegram.com .
When a home invader kicks down your door, will you have time to run to your gun safe, unlock it, get your gun, remove the trigger lock, unlock your ammo, load the gun, and then defend your life and your family members?
Odds are usually in the criminals favor. Not so for the guy in the story. Bet his buddy that got away will think twice before trying home invasion robbery again.

I live in a suburb north of Atlanta, home invasions are not uncommon around here. Besides keeping a .45 semi-auto with me most of the time I also have a tactical Remington 870 12ga. loaded with 3" magnum buckshot within easy reach at the house. If anyone comes bustin' through MY door, they're going to be bustin' right back out!

If you own guns, I would recommend also buying a gun safe, especially if you have children. it also stops criminals from stealing them should you have a break in.

yeah, because when they come bursting throught the door, you'll have time to run to the safe, unlock it, grab the gun, load it, and then defend yourself? Most people can't even find the phone when it rings in the middle of the night!
At any given time, there is a loaded gun in my house, if not on my person. The argument that it's a safety issue for children is bunk. My kids (6 and 13) have grown up around guns, they know they're not toys, and don't touch mom or dads guns, period. Kids are far more likely to drown in a pool than get shot.
The "Children killed by guns statistic" is also trash. "Child" is considered anyone under the age of 18. Guess where nearly all gang-bangers fall age wise??? 15-21. If you remove those "children", you will find very few accidental deaths of children.

That is an enormous risk to take with your children's safety. You are going to trust the judgement of a 6 and 13 year old with access to a loaded gun? Did you never do anything stupid that would disobey your parents? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Kids at 13 are so impressionable. I can just see a 13 year old telling his rebellious, "cool" friend about his dad's gun. The cool friend then convinces him/her to show him. Peer pressure is an amazingly powerful thing at that age. I was raised very well and I did some really stupid crap when I was a kid, especially when you get a group of boys together.

another great google data harvest question.
no i dont. the smallness of size makes it difficult to aid correctly, i had a trailer hitch put on my car which enables me to haul a small cannon, much better.

Hey, I keep loaded guns in my house also, but I don't have any kids. If I had kids I'd get one of those quick opening safes you keep by the bed that allows instant access with a code. Either that or I'd carry on my person even in the house, so don't go off on me thinking I am anti gun. I just don't want kids or their friends who don't know any better getting one of my guns. Your kids may respect guns, their friends may not.
And I know how the antis use those "children" statistics to lie about gun violence. Your preaching to the choir, but I still disagree on allowing kids access to loaded guns without parental/adult supervision.

Paul Harvey told about some pistol cartridges found that were used by Annie Oakley in her act that looked like .45 ammo but actually contained bird shot. Her amazing accuracy in shooting things out of the air from horseback wasn't quite what it seemed. The man may have been using rat shot .22 ammo. FWIW
