Default Fiddle Festivals in Kentucky?

Does anyone know of any fiddle festivals in Kentucky? It's always been a fantasy of mine to take my husband and kids to one in Kentucky (which to me is the most beautiful state in the country).

I could google, etc., but thought I would ask at the source.

Thank you.

Well, in the summer there are many bluegrass festivals. The Festival of the Bluegrass is particularly nice, and is held at the Kentucky Horse Park outside Lexington. Also in Lexington, there is a FREE bluegrass festival in Woodland Park called "Woodland Jubilee". Also in Lexington... every Tuesday night there is bluegrass music on Southland Drive beside the bowling alley. FREE.... and includes a jam session after the name act. Wonderful stuff...

OK, that's Lexington. I'll let someone else tell you about the other many, many wonderful bluegrass venues. Enjoy!!

There are dozens if not hundreds of different bluegrass festivals throughout the state each year. You can find specific events and dates at the following site: Search For Events - Kentucky Department of Travel

Just select "music" from the Interests menu and pick the date range you want to search.

There is or used to be specifically a fiddlers festival at Falls of Rough, very close to Rough River State Park. I believe it is held in the summer.

This is not far at all from Louisville if you plan on flying in, or you could use Louisville as a base. Or you could stay at the state park, which has a nice lodge and some new cabins.
