Very nice thoughts, very kind and understanding. But they disregard the fact that far too many Kentuckians are stupid and servile as is shown by the people of the state 48th in income voting for the party that represents Big Business and the wealthy.
Maybe you don't think stupidity and servility are problems?

I agree ! Kentuckians are not stupid. They chose to exercise their right and the results are the harsh reality.

Not miserable at all, indeed my light shines all the more brightly down here. If you want to feel sorry for someone try yourself.
Meanwhile you ignore the question of why the people of this state act so stupidly, analyze that and not me if you want to do something useful.

I think what Tom MAY be trying to say is that some people can't seperate religion and politics. Those two go together like oil and water. If a church tells you to vote a certain way, you go out and do just that or else. I know, I USED to attend a church like that. The bottom line is that it doesn't matter who you vote for really. If you vote Democrat, they are NOT going to take away your guns and relegion. If you vote Republican, they are NEVER going to stop abortion. The world will not come to an end because of a liberal in office. It's happened before and will happen again after Obama. Stop stroking out. The country has spoken and it was not a contest. 7 million+ difference in the popular vote speaks volumes.

Feel sorry for myself? I'm doing quite alright these days. FWIW, I'm not a big supporter of the Bush/Cheney big business cronies...I just don't see the usefulness of calling my fellow Kentuckians "stupid." I think it comes off as rather arrogant. Again, the question remains, why stay here if you are p'ed off at most of the folks that live here? Gotta go, I have to spend a few minutes dwelling at how miserable my life is..LOL..thanks for the laugh!

No question that it speaks volumes. Look, you cannot change the mindset of the people that live here. In some regions of the state (Northern KY suburbs, south central KY), people have been voting Republican for the last forty years or so. Is it religon...possibly. Is it race...possibly. Basically, it is what it is. And for lack of a better expression..if you are miserable, then leave.
Getting back to the election...no question that a Dem will not be the end of the world. I did quite well during the Clinton years, and expect that an Obama administration may be quite similar. Personally, I admire Obama..although I do not agree with some of his political beliefs. Perhaps Obama can reverse eight years of damage done by the Bushies.
So, no stroking out here. Just a bit annoyed at some posters who possess a holier than thou attitude.

Geez, the first reply and already the classic "if you don't like it, leave" has already been played!!! You wonder why this state is not advancing in anything.
