You can't get change when you keep voting in the same people. It took other states to vote in change. No room to complain. You had your chance!!!

You know, my husband and I were discussing something similar to this before the election. I live in an area that has alot of 'working poor'. The hard working men and women who break their backs at their jobs daily, but are still only getting by, have little to no health insurance, minimal if any savings, and some even need assistance programs to stay afloat (personally, I have no problem with those programs) and yet....
They vote republican. And if it were up to a majority of republican politicians, these programs would be completely nixed. The last two years, George W Bush has tried to eliminate the Rural Development program (he failed at removing all funding, but did manage to get a good little funding cut in there), funding for Nutrition Supplement programs were cut dramatically, even Medicaid took hits. There are 9 million children in the USA that are uninsured, despite the SCHIP programs. And yet its the people that need these programs the most - some of whom rely on them to make ends meet - vote for the politicians who want to cut these programs out. It just seems like shooting yourself in the foot.
The only thing I can figure is that these people vote strictly on conservative social issues - abortion, gay marriage, etc.

You, Mr. Rural Guy, wrote what I will refer to as the typical hate filled attitude against the truths many of the GOP are trying to share. Nothing could be further from the truth. Time will prove my point.
I invite anyone to challenge my words for I know if they are understood, people will most always agree when they know the facts. I never attempt nor have cause to attack a person, but I do attack and have tremendous cause to attack misguided attitudes, emotions, and self-centeredness. In my eyes, only God has the ultimate judgement. I am not God, I don't try to be.
Let me repeat, as you said, KYDad did not attack a person, but, Rural Guy, you agreed he attacked a group, in this case all Kentuckians. I stand in defense against such attacks at any one or any group. If you will join with me and quit feeling personally offended, maybe you will see that KYDAD and likely you have made poor choices which will haunt our children and grandchildren. It has nothing to do with personally attacking KYDad, you, or anyone as a decent person, but attacking irresponsible choices, you bet!

I crafted a lengthy response to this, but then I remembered that I don’t come to City-Data to debate politics. I come here to learn about other places and people and share knowledge about the places and people with which I’m familiar. There are far more appropriate and entertaining arenas on the web for discussing politics. So I’ll keep this short by saying there was no hatred whatsoever in my last post, just a bit of disgust.

You make it sound like the CURRENT economy is all bubbles, no troubles. I gotta ask, how do YOU know what the economy will look like in a couple of years? Do you know the winning Powerball numbers for Saturday as well? It's people like you who are the problem, not the solution. I voted for Bush TWICE and look where it got me. Hell, look where it got the nation. Is it so hard to give Obama a chance? I mean, he hasn't even taken office yet. I hate to break the news to the extreme right, but you are growing smaller and smaller in numbers. The Republicans need to change their message or they will become irrelevant and become a the "angry white guy" group. Back to the economy, tell me if this cartoon I found is true or false:

The grass is always greener on the other side. Kentucky is a convenient skip North of the Ohio river, there are wonderful cities up there ... Indianapolis, Cincy, Detroit, Chicago ... NOT! Instead of whinning, why not go and do something about it ... in the words of JFK: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country".

Not everyone thinks the grass is greener. I love that I live where I do and you couldn't pay me to live north of the Ohio.

I pay my taxes and voted for change. Not sure what much more I could do. I guess I could run for some office and try and work my way up the ladder. The problem with that is I am 31 y/o and was not born here. I have been here for the past 28+ years. I would lose because I am not a KY native. God knows how important that is around here.

I actually agree with you. Illinois, Indy, and Ohio do nothing for me. Especially Illinois. If I had to live in any state that borders ours, I would say TN.

Let see Obama gets elected and he promises taxer taxes and spend, spend spend ... the market tanks a 1000 point the largest fall after a election in history. Is that the change you were looking for?
Oh and on the state election ...

Is Obama POTUS YET? We are still on the watch of Dubya until 20, January. I suppose you are going to tell me that the economy has be doing sooo splendid this year. We are already in the tank!!!
Just what do you expect a president-elect to do in 48 hours? It took Bush YEARS to send this economy into the crapper...give it time.
