Default Help, I Dont Know Where To Find What Im Looking For...

Hi Iam New To This Site And I Found It By Doing Research Of Louisville. We Plan On Moving To The Louisville Area In June Of This Year. We Are Looking For Newer Housing (possibly New Const. If The Area And Price Are Right) But, Nothing More Then 10 Years Old. Looking For A Suburban Life-style W/ A Country Feel. Our Price Range Is 150-200k. Looking For Some Land To Go W/it, At Least 1/2 Acre. What Are The Best Areas? Low Housing Prices, Low Crime, Hometown Feel...i Am Originally From The Chicago Suburbs And Am Looking For That Feeling, Close To Shopping Cntrs, Malls, Restruants, Etc. Weve been looking at 40218, 40219, 40213, 40220, 40228 what are your opinions of these areas? We would like to be fairly close to the airport 20mins. or so. I have family in Chicago and my husband has family in Birmingham, AL. we will be traveling to and from the airport frequently.

The areas you have mentioned are not bad - but the price range you mention and the ammenities along with acrearage is not likely to be found in Louisville/Jefferson County(espexially in those zip codes), unless you consider the Jeffersontown area - which may or may not be able to fill that need at this point. Growing quickly.

You may want to broaden your search to Spencer County (Taylorsville), Bullitt County( Shepherdsville, Mt. Washington) or even Hardin county (north of Elizabethtown). This is what most have done who have your criteria - out of county brings much more bang for your buck. I did noy mention Oldham County, as it is a more expensive area (in most cases) than the zip codes you mentioned in Jefferson County).

The property values have really gone up - and what you describe will cost a pretty penny in Jefferson County - probably 350.000 plus to be 20 minutes to the airport without much land.

I live in southern Bullitt county - have approx. a 35 minute drive to the airport (no traffic) and it is not hard to access it from any of the points I mentioned. Lnad is thi sarea is till relatively cheap also - with a few new developments and newer house for sale here and there. Lebanon Junction rarely has alot of turn over - once you get here - you tend to stay. Small, comfy, and close to E-town and Louisville.

BUT........
Check with mapquest or google maps - I think you will be able to get your bearings from the airport - and go from there. Also - Shelby county (Shelbyville) is relatively close - but will more than likely be closer to a 40 to 45 minute drive to the airport.

Honestly - unless you intend to fly out everyday or week - look for the areas with the housing requirements you seek first - then go from there. A little travel time to the airport is nothing, as the roads are great and accessible from every interstate/expressway system.

Start your search with housing that meets you budget - I think it will make you happier in the long run. (Just a thought)

Google searches can be done for all the towns I mentioned - the Cof C in each of those counties will be more than happy to give additional info also.

Good luck!
