I agree. I despise the place and never go there. But I do realize that other people do. In larger cities like Louisville, you can avoid it. In smaller towns, it can be a bit more difficult, because Walmart has wiped out all the local stores.

Wait now, in Lawrenceburg we have an impressive variety of stores.

One Walmart Supercenter, Kroger, Save-A-Lot, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Auto Zone, and two Dollar Stores.

As for locally-owned retailers...well, there is a clothing shop for elderly women, a candle store, shoe store, and horse saddle/equipment store. That's about it.

Quite a few towns with a Walmart have other stores. I agree with you Walmart has shut down a lot of the "mom and pop" markets. You can find Dollar Store and Fred's and a bunch of other stores in a lot of towns in western Kentucky.
