How about Cadiz? I only went once but it seemed like a cute little town, although its pretty country and not much really there. You could live there or on the lakes and be in hoptown in 20 minutes.

I live in Cadiz. Come on down! We're doing good! We have a Fred's AND a Dollar General Store! lol We have 3 grocery stores in town and Walmart is about 20 miles away in Hopkinsville. The road to Hopkinsville is 4 lane. Cadiz is 10 miles from Lake Barkley. Trigg County High School has a pretty good sports program. If you like antiques, there are 6 antique shops in town. Second weekend in October is a busy time in town. Our big claim to fame is country ham so that's the weekend of the Country Ham Festival, complete with a 4000 lb country ham biscuit! According to the history of the festival, on the festival web site ( www.hamfestival.com) there are about 90,000 here that weekend.
Sorry to carry on so much. I've lived here off and on for 7 years and I love it here!

I was born and raised there. Great town. But drd said he's working in the Hoptown area. Kind of a long drive from Mayfield.

Look into: Cadiz, Cerulean, Crofton, Dawson Springs, Princeton, Nortonville, St. Charles, Central City, Greenville, Elkton, Oak Grove, Fairview, or even Russellville or Aurora.

Hopkinsville has a great sports program. My wife's grandson plays baseball, is on the traveling team, and plays fall ball too. He's 11. Played basketball for a couple years but decided to stick with baseball. We went to some of his games and the park where the games are played are usually packed.
Since he sticks to sports with a round ball, lol. I couldn't tell you much about football. I know Cadiz has a recreational park outside of town and I think there's some baseball but I couldnt' tell you much about it.
