Retirement in Kentucky
Good morning all, I am looking to retire in Kentucky. My wife and I are looking for a community that is more like a village, small town with Victorian type homes. Any suggestions?

Danville, Midway, Winchester, Versailles, Maysville, Princeton. Maybe Berea.

Check down through these threads. Lots of people wanting to check on retiring in Kentucky. We have 120 counties, so there's plenty of places to choose from.

You may want to consider the Murray area near Land-Between-the-Lakes. It's consistently rated as a top retirement spot.

I would rule out Winchester. A very nice historic distict, yes, but it is one of those places where the drunk/drugged redneck kids can be outta control and the norm for men is still the mullet. I jest not. My father was a principal in the town about 10-15 years ago, and this is what I would notice when I went to visit the school; I've visited 3-4 times since then, and it doesn't look like much has changed. For that matter, Berea is kind of the same way; both towns are too "eastern Kentucky" for my taste. (Not that E. Ky. is really a bad place, but there are tremendous social problems and ignorance that stem from the poverty and under-education, long story short.)
Murray, Cadiz, Henderson, and Calhoun are all towns worth checking out, also.

For a retirement community in Kentucky, I would have to recommend Salvisa. It is located on US 127 between Lawrenceburg and Harrodsburg, positioning you equally between the two cities.
It has a great community feel, and is an absolutely peaceful, scenic, and wonderful place to be.

Whichever retirement community you choose, I am sure you will be very happy in Kentucky! It really is "home"
