I only promote areas I know about. I have sadly not been everywhere in the state and would hate to send somebody somewhere I don't know. Now when it comes to visiting places, I send people to alot of places from Cumberland Falls to Land Between the lakes!

Kentuckyguy, you're the only poster we ever get who KNOWS Northern Ky. You should post more often. We have several vocal posters for Western Kentucky, a few for Eastern, and many from Lexington and Louisville. It would be great if you could answer the NKy questions - the rest of us try our best, but you would do a better job.

I only write about Lexington because I've been living there several decades. Sometimes I know a bit about other areas, but will always know something to say about Lex. You can do the same for your area. Honestly, it would be much appreciated.

And that's fine I feel, I live in the western end, I have family in central and far eastern KY and even in the BIG cities, so I get to see the entire state and it's great. Each is unique in it's own way ...

BUT (there's aways a but) you know some folk around here slam on rural KY like we're all some sort of backwoods deliverance type folks and I'm sure you've read them.

Now I don't get to northern KY that often but I wouldn't tell somebody not to move there or go there for some perceived stereotype of the area. It would be fair to them and wrong of me.

Honestly, I haven't read these mysterious posters slamming on rural Ky. Who are they? Maybe I'm missing something...

I know who you are talking about and I agree, but I also think that most people know that the certain poster is negative no matter what. I would never discourage anywhere I have never lived! (Well, unless it's north of the river ) LOL

anybody familiar with the area of the Appalachians Diane Sawyer is doing a special on Friday night on ABC?

She was talking about it on --The View--and I thought she meant West Virginia, but the map showed it extended into KY.

She used terms like--"extreme poverty"and "the forgotten America"

What ever she does, I'll predict now she'll she'll make them look like dumb, backwoods, inbred hicks living in shacks with outhouses. That is the mainstream media opinion of rural America.

Anybody want to take bets?

I seen this advertised on tv and had to see if any of y'all heard about it. I know Diane has family from the Appalachians, moreso KY and WV I believe. They filmed a majority of it in Flat Gap, KY. I plan on watching just to see what the show says. I absolutely love the charm of Appalachia.

I'm sure some things will be mis-represented.

Here's a Texan/New Mexican who will speak up for Kentucky. I've not spent a lot of time there but I've hunted deer around Charleston and traveled through the Mammoth Cave, Bowling Green and Lexington areas at various times. From what I've seen, one would be hard pressed to find a more beautiful State than Kentucky.
