Hey I'm originally from Bowling Green and thinking about building a house there. (Approximately 1730SqFt) I've got a custom plan that I'm going to use and was wondering if anybody knows of a reliable contractor. I'm also curious on how much the cost of the average square foot is now days in Bowling Green. Just fyi I'm trying to stay in the Lost River / Warren Elementary School district. Thx for all the help.

How much a square foot depends on so many factors so nailing that answer down will be difficult. Hardwood floors or carpet, vinyl or tile, off the shelf cabinets or custom built, 6" walls or 8" wall, 8' ceilings or 10', flat ceiling or textured, trays or not, you want custom lighting or Builders Choice? ... etc etc and the list goes on and on. However, on average you're looking at $90+ sq ft to the sky is the limit. Most average about $125.00 sq ft or more less the cost of the land. If you think it's going to cost $200,000 to build ... be ready to spend $250,000 or more.
Custom build homes cost more than contractor built spec homes, however spec homes are usually build with the cheapest materials.

You can count on about $100.00 a square foot depending, as Davart says on your choices. In the area you want to build in, the land should be a little less at least. Right now, you should have a good choice of quality builders also since it is so down.
