Union, KY?
What is this town like? Family feel? Educated residents? Shopping, restaurants? Home prices?

I've been wondering also!
We've been watching property all over the state to see what is happening in anticipation of moving from Idaho .... one property in the Union area has been on the market for a very long time.
For us, it is too far away from the Grandchild in Knoxville TN, but I'm also wonder why it hasn't sold at what seems to be a reasonable price for the area. We haven't seen the property in person though....

Union has seen an explosion in development over the past decade and is primarily a residential area full of subdivisions. There's really no town center, as it was previously little more than a crossroads. But it does have a couple shopping centers, a library, and a few other amenities. It's also directly adjacent to Florence, where you can find virtually every major retail chain, restaurants, movie theaters, etc.
Union is very suburban with a population that's largely college educated. Home prices run from about $135,000-500,000, depending on what you're looking for. I'd say the average home price probably falls in the range of $175,000-250,000. You can check out available properties through the Northern Kentucky Realtor's Association at Northern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® - Members.

Are most Union residents KY natives or transplants from out of KY? Given that it is such a new town I think this is an important question to ask.

It's a mix of natives and transplants. I'd give the edge to KY natives, but not by very much. If you're concerned about being an outsider, I wouldn't worry about it. Nearly everybody there moved there from somewhere else. And it's part of a pretty big metro area (Cincinnati), so you won't experience the kind of insular attitudes some more remote areas of the state are rumored to have.

Thanks RuralGuy... that was one concern of mine. I know of a family from CA that moved there and seems to like it. Wasn't sure if there were others like them who tried to escape the ridiculous home prices in CA for an easier way of life.

You're welcome. I lived on the edge of Florence right by the border with Union for many years, and I have friends that live in Union now (plus my dentist is there ), so I'm pretty familiar with the area.
Some of Union is still undeveloped and has a rural feel to it, so if you'd prefer a less suburban setting, that might be an option for you, too. Other similar communities in Northern Kentucky that also might interest you include Burlington and Hebron in Boone County, Taylor Mill and Independence in Kenton County, and Cold Spring and Alexandria in Campbell County.
