I've heard chicken little forecasters screech "the snow is falling! the snow is falling!" too many times this winter, only to be disappointed when I woke up. As a winter lover, I'm hoping that this winter storm hits us good and hard, but I'll believe it when I see it!

For me, it's somewhat of a nostalgia factor. As a kid, we used to get decent snowfalls in the winter, but as an adult, they rarely happen anymore. I'd like to have at least one good, accumulating snowfall each winter.

Ah how I miss the days of getting excited about a snowfall. I've been out of Kentucky since 2002 and now I just wish this crap would melt sometime before May. If its anything like it used to be there will not be a loaf bread or jug of milk left in the stores tonight.

Probably because we REALLY don't know how to drive in it.

Nor do we have the equipment to remove it, after the big 1976 blizzard the state bought over a $1,000,000 (1976 dollars) in snow removal equipment and then it sat there for years and years waiting for the next blizzard and it all rusted in place and was finally sold for scrap. IIRC.

im debating whether or not to go out and buy a generator, the weather channel and the nws are both saying we could be without power in and around louisville for days if the ice comes like they are predicting.

I live with a "survivalist" so my house is already stocked with tons of canned food and oil lamps. For good measure I did run to Wal Mart and grab some extra pot pies and ale 8 one

If you loose power those pot pie will be real tasty cold. I have cooked them in a dutch over in a fireplace, it worked. Although a little uneven, parts cool to warm over parts boiling hot.

We currently have a little under 1/4" of ice and it's picking up.
All the schools in the Jackson Purchase are closed tomorrow.
