Can someone please tell me why, despite the fact that EVERYTHING IN EVERY COUNTY IN ALL OF WESTERN KENTUCKY & SOUTHERN ILLINOIS is closed tomorrow, West Kentucky Comm. & Tech. College insists on carrying on with the charade that they're opening at 10 a.m.??
I teach there, and they're always the last to announce that classes are canceled. Furthermore, I've risked my life to drive to my classes several times, only to discover that NO ONE ELSE HAS COME despite the fact that the school remains, heroically, open for business.
WHY WHY WHY?!?!?
(end rant)

Henderson is pretty bad. Not TOO bad, but bad enough that they closed schools by 9pm (usually it's around 3am when they make that decision). Pretty damn slick, and the roads are quite nasty. They are saying we are supposed to get snow on top of this ice, either way, I want it to be OVER ASAP!!!
I hate SNOW ICE SLEET SLAIN COLD WEATHER, anything winter, blecch! I want unbearable heat and sun for days, lol.

hmmmm, I guess the storm either missed you guys completely, you're all outside shoveling, or perhaps huddled around the blue flame on top of your can of Sterno. Anxiously awaiting communication and hoping all is well.
BTW us folks up north say "your welcome" for the snow, we've had our share this winter

I'm currently on generator, I have limb down everywhere, we have about 2 inches of ice so far and more coming.
The power is off over most of western KY went of about 3AM here. From the looks of things it will off for a while. My neighbor who is a insurance agent and still has power said he's been getting reports all day so far about tree damage, house damage, no power, car damage etc etc.
Anyway it's not as bad as 1993 but it's still sucks, I've been hearing huge limbs snapping all day on my land. oh well ...

Cattknap...
Really only two options I can think of, drive really slow & give yourself plenty of time to get there, or tell your husband to stay in a motel overnight to be on the safe side.

Sounds like my hometown got walloped. Talked to my Mama this morning and they lost a good portion of their trees. Also had one fall on her car so its totaled. Luckily their power is back on for the time being. Sounds very hazardous there so please be careful everyone!
