Graves County:

Graves 3:30/1-30-09...........EOC- 1-270-856-1020

100% without power,

Shelter: Graves County High school, food and shelter 490 people in the shelter

Water--please conserve water and boil if you can

Food--Wal-mart is letting people in a few at a time. No other restaurants or stores are open at this time for food

Fuel---a few stations have been open, but not for long. So, it is too hard to give a specific location. NO KEROSENE OR PROPANE

Banks: 1st Kentucky and FNB with both try to be open Saturday.

Pharmacies: Stones, Apothecary, Duncans, and Gibsons are all open.

HOSPITAL: OPEN AND RUNNING ON GENERATOR
So far I've heard that there are 75 National Guard troops deployed ... 75 for the entire Jackson Purchase. So far no water or MRE's have been sent for the poor and elderly limited warming shelters and I know of no overnight shelters ( I don't know this for fact, just haven't found any info most people with heat or a way to heat are opening there homes to those with no way of heating.)

Katrina had 3 weeks warning, we had a few hours ... and you have to fight the cold and ice. If you didn't leave because of Katrina it's because you're a dumb butt, here you didn't have time. So far no help from the Fed's for the poor and elderly. No bottled water, No MRE's, No blankets, nothing! Nice work Nobama ... hope you're warm in your 80 degree White House hypocrite.

What on earth are you talking about? We've gotten a TON of help over here in eastern Kentucky. We've had water, blankets, food, kerosene, heaters, generators, oxygen tanks, etc.. The volunteer firefighters are going door to door to deliver supplies to people without power and/or water and also have people manning the station in case anyone drives in and asks for assistance.

Not happening in political Siberia, you can get gas now with a wait, no propane or kerosene.

Note this EOC release ...

Were starting to get generators in but there HIGH .. so most folks aren't going to be able to afford one, most places are only taking cash and the banks will only give $100 cash per visit, but you have to wain in line outside and they'll come to your car.

Hey I'm happy alls fine and dandy over your way not the case here. It least the weather warmed up today. The Lt Gov said shelters aren't turning people away ... well he lied they are, they're telling them they have no more room pack a bag and head south or fine a friend with ability to heat.

Things are a little smoother here but I still have not seen anything other than farmers moving trees and and folk out clearing trees out for the road with chainsaws, that's what I did today. I have seen ONE KYANG Hummer ... 1.

Supplies are starting to flow in, but you have to pay cash for it, and some folks don't have it and since they aren't working as everything is closed that aren't making any. So what are they to do? This is a very rural area and some fold will not have power for a month, I'm know I'm on a very remote grid, so I don't expect it for weeks.

I just read that the governor has called out all of Kentucky's National Guard today which is 4600 people. That should help but it also should have been done much earlier in the week. We had two shelters set up by the Red Cross here when it first happened, but they closed a day or two ago since the power had been restored in most if not all places in Warren County.

I have a generator, WKTV (TV, Phone and Internet) is running on generator and it's spotty as people have started stealing the generator they've placed in the country to keep up there jump boxes for the net.
The telephone company had the go sense to bury all there lines in nearly all of the county .. if the electric co would bury their's they wouldn't have this problem.

Small update I heard ...
The county (Graves) has a limited amount of bottle water, ice (like anyone wants that) and a small amount of kerosene to hand out at the Mayfield Airport. If you know anyone in need let them know.
